Sometimes life happens, and you don’t get as much done as you hoped. This was one of those weekends. We did manage to get a couple of things done in the Russ Bus, so I thought that deserved an update.

We started by framing in the windows. I really love how the wood makes it look a little more like a home, and it makes me so excited to continue with the build! We didn’t frame the entire window because the bottom half of the walls will be covered later. This side will be covered with kitchen cabinets, and the other with a couch.

After finishing the windows, we took some wood we had left from the subfloor and started boxing in the wheel wells. Even though these will be covered with different built-in furniture, we wanted to make sure they were insulated well. After the framing, they’ll be covered with plywood and then built up from there!
Going forward: The plan for the next couple of weeks is to take a break from building and finish a couple of much needed projects. The first thing that needs to be done is painting the roof. During the storms this last week, we found some leaks that need to be covered ASAP. The plan is to cover the roof with a silicone coating that should help seal up those leaks and keep the bus cool. We also are in the process of researching the best way to add locks to our doors since we are adding more to it every day. We hope to get this done within the next couple of weeks as well.
If you have made it this far keeping up with my (not very well written) blogs, thank you! I love sharing this adventure with anybody who is willing to listen. If you want to read more technical instructions of what we’ve been doing, check out Rett’s website http://www.skoolie101.com.

You two are a wealth of information. I get my bus in mid October and start conversion the same week. Thank you for your time to show others how to do this, and hello from Alaska.
